The Ulster Way provides interesting walks around the Bangor area to suit everyone. The coastal path stretches along the North Down Coast from Holywood to Potavoe near Groomsport a distance of some 16 miles (25 kms). Why not enjoy a brisk walk along the coastal path from bangor to helens Bay, or even to Holywood, then relax on a train journey back to Bangor? Or perhaps take more gentle stroll round to Ballyholme Bay!
Fishing
Ireland is renowned for its fishing potential for both fresh water and sea anglers. Whilst the more serious angler heads for the lakes of County Fermanagh and the West Coast in search of big game and specimen fish, the County Down provides ample opportunity for the angler who wishes to include among their other holiday activities.
There are two local fisheries that are well stocked with both Brown and Rainbow trout close at hand. Fishing permits are available locally. Local boat men also run fishing excursions for those who wish to to try their hand at sea angling.
